Batangas Getaway: Beaches, Laughter, and a Taste of Home

Image
Hi, this is Roy. Our province is Batangas, which is just near Manila. Even though I go there often, I still love visiting. Life in the province is really different compared to here in Manila. Over there, it’s peaceful, and it always feels like there’s a gathering. It feels far from problems. One of the things I love most about Batangas is that there are many beaches. I don’t know why, but whenever I’m by the sea, I feel so light. It’s as if sadness and stress have no right to cling to you because you’re just happy. Batangas even has beaches that look like white sand beaches, like Matabungkay Beach. I just went there recently, and it felt so refreshing, even though the sun was scorching. I was with my friends from Batangas, and we had so much fun—just chatting and teasing each other. You won’t hear any problems, just pure laughter. If I had to choose where to live, I’d still pick Batangas. But my family is here in Manila, and we also have a business here. Even though we’re not ...

Daranak Falls: A Refreshing Escape in Nature

Daranak Falls is one of the most beautiful natural attractions hiding in Tanay, Rizal-in-the-bowels of the Sierra Madre range. One of those beautiful waterfalls which holds a couple of treasured vacation spots for Nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts, relaxing, and meditating in the wild, amidst the sounds of nature. They indeed make Daranak Falls a perfect hideaway hideout from the hustle and bustle of the city with its velvety green ground covering, its crystal waters, and its exuberantly alive environment. Metro-from Manila is pretty accessible through public transport to Daranak Falls. Ride a van or bus headed to Tanay from Starmall Terminal, Mandaluyong or Araneta Center, Cubao. After that, you can take the tricycle from Tanay Public Market going to Daranak Falls. This is so scenic hence enjoyable-that makes the trip just as rewarding as the destination. Indeed, for budget- and adventure-hungry student travelers, this is a great place to go in search of budget adventures. For a...

TRAVEL AS A FORM OF HEALING

Everything in life should be balanced. If you ever feel sad, go on a holiday; find something that brings happiness your way. There were really many ways I could have gone happy, but sometimes, simple things are not able to bring me out of my sad experiences. I thank my friends for being there whenever I felt that I could not carry my weight anymore. We decided to go on a oneday tour to Daranak Falls. It was only a hastily arranged trip, but it did bring so much joy and relief to me. I never expected them to lift my spirits because I was already drowning in sadness. I was consumed by it. Maybe also it helped that our trip played a part in helping me. We actually tried cliff diving-even though scary for me. I felt like releasing all my problems when I shouted during the jump. Most days, the sadness feels like a little much to handle, but now, the next time something like that happens, I plan on relaxing and taking a break. I know now that I am going to make it ever through.
